The purpose of this Association shall be to bring together business and professional people of good will, who are interested in the promotion, improvement, and advancement of the business climate of Bedford Township.

 
 
 
BBA Directory
 

The Bedford Business Association
is a group of approximately 300 business owners who have come together to share ideas on how to better serve Bedford Township, Michigan. One of the main goals is to encourage the community to shop locally and also utilize the abundance of services offered.

The BBA welcomes new members and the opportunity to help business owners help other business owners through cooperation, interconnected business relationships, friendships, and common interests.

 
 

Monthly Dinner Meetings
Informal monthly dinner meetings are held from September through June giving the members a chance to network with other business owners and listen to informative speakers. Relevant topics ranging from the social media boom to identity theft help keeps members up to date.

Dinner is provided by one of our restaurant or caterer members and offers a cooperation, interconnected business relationships, friendships, and common interests.

Trade Fair Committee
  The Trade Fair Committee, chaired by the Presidnet, assisted by the Executive Board and General Membership, shall organize and execute an annual Trade Fair event showcasing the businesses of Bedford.
   
Program Committee
  The Program Committee, chaired by the 1st Vice President, shall select topics and arrange for speakers and the location for the monthly general meeting and for any special meetings. The Committee will arrange for food, if necessary, and equipment or other aids required for the program. The Committee will assist the President as needed. Provide a written quote in advance for dinner, collect cash at meeting for dinner, and submit report and cash to Treasurer that evening.
   
Membership Committee
 

The Membership Committee, chaired by the 2nd Vice President, shall obtain new members as defined by Article 3, Membership. The Committee shall receive and investigate all applications for membership and make recommendation for approval or rejection to the Officers and Executive Board. The Committee will notify the applicant of acceptance or rejection. The applicant will be informed of the reason for rejection, if necessary.

In addition, the Committee will conducct introduction of new members, welcome them at meetings, introduce them to current members and follow-up on future attendance. They will update lists' monthly for each Board meeting and include on mailing lists, track meeting attendance, and maintain membership applications. Have greeters at each dinner meeting, and a Committee member to introduce all new or potential members and present them with their membership packet (plaque, directory, badge, etc.).

   
Legislative Committee
  The Legislative Committee will keep the members informed on all legislative matters affecting the operation of member business, inform the members as to the legislative work of the township, county, state, and federal government, and any other organized or unorganized groups that affect our area and/or business. In addition, the Committee will inform the members as to the activities and rulings of bodies established by the local, state, or federal government affecting business and commerce. Place a member on Monroe Chamber of Commerce Legislative.
   
Budget Committee
  The Budget Committee, chaired by the Treasurer, will check the financial status of the Association and prepare an annual budget for adoption by the Executive Board. The Committee will distribute the adopted budget to the Officers and Committee Chairman. Proposed changes or altercations will be submitted to teh Executive Board. The Committee will make periodic checks with the Treasurer to see that the budget is in balance. Request proposals from Committee Chairman for consideration in preparing Annual Budget.
   
Audit Committee
 

The Audit Committee will audit receipts and disbursements with the bank books, deposits, statements, cash receipts, dues, records, invoices, and audit reserve account receipts and disbursements. Minutes will be reviewed and checked for legibility and accuracy. Thirty (30) days after the end of the fiscal year, a final statement of receipts, and disbursements will be provided showing the following:

1) Previous year's balance.
2) Receipts for the year.
3) Disbursements for the year, including reserve account.
4) Balance at the end of the year.

A statement is to be included as to the accuracy, neatness, legibility, etc., of the records.

   
Public Relations / Marketing / & Hospitality Committee
  This Committee will promote and publicize all Association funds and events in cooperation with all other Committees and the Executive Board. The Committee will also review and update the directory annually. Promote network possibilities for the members of our organization and to the residents of our community and surrounding areas. Requests and donations should be submitted in writing. Review and make recommendations at Board meetings.
   
Newsletter Committee
  Maintain format of Bits N' Pieces, solicit Board input, incorporate minutes, get ads, and submit list of advertisers to Treasurer for billing.
   
Advisory Committee
  This Committee shall periodically review the by-laws of the Association to ascertain if the by-laws meet the needs of the Association is functioning properly under the by-laws and to the make interpretation and to propose amendments to the by-laws. The Committee will periodically advise the Executive Board on meeting the goals and objectives of the Association and will accept special assignments as designed by the President. Address complaints of members and submit findings to the Board.
   
Community Action Committee
  The Community Action Committee will act as a conduit from the Association to the community and from the community to the Association. Research and conduct at least one educational seminar each year.
   
Nominating Committee
  Select a slate of officers and trustees for recommendation and present it at the March Board meeting. Announce the nominations at the April general meeting. Supervise elections at the May general meeting. Contact the nominees of the outcome if they cannot be present for the elections.
   
Community Days Committee
  Recommend a queen candidate to the Board along with the responsibilities of the contest. Plan at least one day event, create a float for the queen.
   
Project Committee
  Softball tournament, golf outing, and special events which may be undertaken in the Community or organization which will not fall under the Committee jurisdiction.
   
Historian Committee
  Gather information, pictures, awards, and any/all memorabilia. Establish a format in which this information can be passed along annually.
   
Busy Bee Committee
 
The Busy Bee Committee is responsible for managing and giving out small wooden game tokens. The tokens are earned by the BBA members upon attending regular meetings. Tokens are also earned through participating in BBA events like road cleanups, food, drives, and trade fair set-up. At the BBA's Annual Picnic, the tokens are exchanged for raffle tickets used to bid on donated items from BBA members. Other responsibilities include gathering donations or prizes and set-up of prizes at the year end picnic.
